The teaching methods that are used today are based mainly on experience,--observing events that happen in the swing of great professionals. Thus, we are taught mainly by imitation, much like monkeys.
Experience and observation have to be explained at least logically if not scientifically. Otherwise, one will come up with wrong notations such as -- the head as the main axis of the swing and the X factor.
At address the head is about the middle of the stance or slightly to the right of the mid-stance. If it is the axis of the swing, then the bottom of the swing should be at the mid-stance or slightly to the right of the mid-stance, based on what we know in geometry. Then why do most professionals position the ball closer to the inside left heel line rather than at or closer to the middle of the stance?
With regards to the X factor, the great Bobby Jones would have the shortest drive because his hips turned as much as his shoulder with practically no gap between the left hip and the shoulder (X factor). The X factor idea is wrong.
Golf power equated with clubhead speed is not due to centrifugal force.
